“That achievement gave me immense confidence. It made me realise that background is never a limitation if you are willing to learn and adapt,” he says.

From that point onwards, he stopped looking at himself as someone trying to catch up. He started carrying himself like someone capable of competing anywhere.

One of the biggest turning points in Debanjan’s journey came outside the classroom.

He joined Jaipuria’s Placement Cell as a coordinator without fully understanding how the system worked. But the experience pushed him into situations that demanded communication, leadership, professionalism, and confidence every single day.

Over time, he grew into the role and was eventually elected Vice President.

The journey from coordinator to leadership transformed his personality completely.

Interacting with recruiters, coordinating placement activities, speaking with HR professionals, conducting market mapping, and managing responsibilities under pressure gave him exposure that many students only experience after entering the corporate world.

“Regular interactions with HRs and corporate leaders greatly improved my communication skills, professional behaviour, confidence, and overall personality,” he shares.

By the time placement season arrived, Debanjan was no longer intimidated by interviews or corporate conversations. He had already spent months learning how the professional world actually operates.

Learning Beyond Textbooks

Jaipuria’s academic environment also played a major role in shaping his growth.

Projects in Corporate Valuation, Equity Analysis, Portfolio Management, B2B Marketing, and Rural Marketing exposed him to domains completely unrelated to his academic background. Industry sessions, mentorship, mock GDs, aptitude training, and practical assignments helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations.

His Summer Internship in Finance became another important milestone, giving him practical corporate exposure and helping him understand business beyond theory.

Alongside this, AI-based mock interview preparation platforms helped him practice in realistic interview environments.

“The AI asked questions based on our specialisation, internships, projects, and job descriptions, which made the preparation feel very close to actual interviews,” he says.

Every stage of the process added something: confidence, clarity, communication, adaptability, and the ability to perform under pressure.
