Ishika Jain's Internship Journey at WPP Media India

In today’s fast-evolving digital marketing landscape, internships play a crucial role in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. They provide students with real exposure to data-driven marketing, campaign execution, and performance analytics in fast-paced business environments.

Ishika Jain, a PGDM student at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur, gained hands-on exposure to live digital marketing campaigns, media planning, and performance marketing operations through her Summer Internship at WPP Media India.

Originally from Beawar, a small city in Rajasthan, Ishika grew up in a family that instilled the values of hard work, honesty, and continuous learning. She brought these values with her to Jaipuria, along with a positive mindset, a willingness to embrace challenges, and a strong desire to grow. Combined with the preparation and professional orientation she received at Jaipuria, this foundation gave her the confidence to step into WPP Media India Private Limited in Gurugram and make a meaningful contribution.

Breaking the Myth: Internships Aren’t a Slow Start

Like many management students, Ishika expected her Summer Internship to provide a structured and gradual introduction to corporate life—a space where she could apply classroom concepts before facing major challenges. However, her experience at WPP Media proved to be very different.

“My experience taught me the importance of time management, adaptability, teamwork, and communication in a real work environment. It provided practical learning and industry insights that went beyond my initial expectations,” she reflects.

Real Campaigns. Real Clients. Real Accountability.

During her internship, Ishika worked on digital marketing and media analytics projects for real client accounts, including Haier, VLCC, and Orient Electric. Her responsibilities were substantial: working with Google Ads and Meta Ads platforms, conducting keyword research using Google Keyword Planner, performing competitor and landing page analysis, tracking campaign performance, and preparing daily and weekly reports.

She maintained performance trackers, generated insights from campaign data, and prepared reports covering keywords, locations, audience segments, and ad placements. She also contributed to a LinkedIn data extraction project that further sharpened her data management and reporting capabilities.

These were not simulated tasks. These were live campaigns for global brands, and Ishika delivered on every front, a direct reflection of the practical, industry-ready training Jaipuria gives its students.

Building on a Strong Foundation

The skills Ishika brought to WPP Media were largely built at Jaipuria. The emphasis on analytical thinking, data interpretation, professional communication, and attention to detail across the PGDM programme gave her the grounding to handle the fast pace and high expectations of the world’s leading media group.

“The most important skills I developed during my SIP were data analysis, keyword research, and performance marketing analytics,” she says. “Additionally, I strengthened my problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, teamwork, and time management skills while working on real-world projects.”

When the environment got overwhelming, she drew on the discipline and learning orientation that Jaipuria had instilled in her: asking questions, taking detailed notes, learning actively from mentors, and staying organised under pressure.

A Personal Journey as Much as a Professional One

Ishika’s internship also marked a period of remarkable personal growth. She independently relocated from Beawar to Gurugram and successfully adapted to a new city, a new work culture, and a professional environment unlike anything she had experienced before. Through this journey, she developed a level of resilience that only real-world experiences can build.

“Over time, I learned to step out of my comfort zone, embrace new challenges, and adapt to unfamiliar situations, making this internship a significant personal as well as professional learning experience,” she says.

What She Takes Forward

Ishika’s biggest takeaway from her time at WPP Media is a principle that will likely define the rest of her career.

“My biggest takeaway from the Summer Internship was the value of learning by doing. Working on live projects taught me how to analyze data, solve problems, and contribute to business objectives. The experience increased my confidence, enhanced my professional skills, and gave me a better understanding of the corporate world,” she reflects.

At Jaipuria, we celebrate Ishika’s journey because it reflects exactly what we strive to achieve: preparing students not only with strong academic foundations but also with the confidence, adaptability, and resilience to succeed wherever their careers take them.
