A customized Management Development Program (MDP) for senior officials of the Banking sector- State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, from 17- 19th may, 2016 was hosted by Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur. With a topic- “Towards Professional & Personal Excellence”, the MDP explored three primary dimensions of Leadership- Self, Leading others, Leading Business. Shri. A C Raut, Chief General Manager Human Resources, State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur inaugurated the event and it was further taken forward with topics like- “How to create your personal brand,” “How to enhance team performance”, “Creating and Maintaining Sustainable Business,” “SMART Goals”, etc. After the successful three days’ interaction, involving knowledge sharing from faculty at Jaipuria and industry experts, participants signed off with encouraging remarks such as- “The MDP made me re-think about the importance of Personal Growth. Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore organized a Six – days Management Development Program for Class “A” Officers of Department of Excise and Customs, NACEN Bhopal,
The six day event was addressed by Prof. Ranjeet Nambudiri on the topic “Essentials of Leadership – Leaders and Administrators”. Further in the program, “Emotional Intelligence” another important aspect was discussed by Dr. Charu Dubey, which was followed by session on “Change Management” by Dr Manisha Shukla, who emphasized on the essential of change management in an organization.
National Case Symposium Organised 30 April, 2016 (Jaipuria Indore)
The National Case Symposium on Management in India was organised in Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore on the 30th of April. Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore, Dr. Harshwardhan Halve presented the inaugural address while Prof Aditi Naidu, Convenor-NCSMI, 2016 introduced the symposium to the audience. Dr Halve, in his inaugural address, brought forth the dearth of management case studies in the context of India and mentioned that the main objective of the case symposium is to build a strong repository of management case studies to fill this gap. Prof Aditi Naidu outlined the specifics of the case symposium as she provided the detailed structure of the programme. During the inaugural session, Dr Sople, Director, ITM, Mumbai and Dr Nambudiri, Associate Professor, IIM , Indore addressed the gathering on the nuances of developing management case studies in the context of India. Dr Sople stressed that writing and publishing is an essential responsibility of an academician , especially in higher education.
MDP on “Effective Secretarial and Administration Management” 26 April to 7 May, 2016 (Jaipuria Jaipur)
“Effective Secretarial and Administration Management” was the theme of the Management Development Program (MDP) for Cabinet officials of Bhutan’s Prime Ministers’ office. The 10 days’ MDP hosted by Jaipuria’s Jaipur campus had Shri Rajendra Bhanawat as the Chief Guest who elaborated on the best practices of good governance to the participants. Prof Neeraj Gupta, Dean, School of Architecture and Head of the Department of Architecture at the Central University of Rajasthan talked about “Developing Effective Teams” which was followed by a very influencing session on “Effective Communication” by Dr. Vandana Sharma and “5S Workplace” by Dr. Pankaj, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur. Some other very interesting topics made the course of the MDP- ” Global communication and Media tools”, “Communication & Tools and Technology” & “Responsive Administration”, “Budgeting for efficient use of resources,” to name a few. 4 – Day MDP on Train the Trainers for Banks 18 to 21 April, 2016 (Jaipuria Lucknow)
From April 18 to 21, 2016, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow organized a four-day Management Development Program titled, Train the Trainers for Banks. The program was headed by Prof. Shyam Ji Mehrotra, Chairperson, Executive Education.
The program was designed specifically for Trainers/Faculty/Instructors working in Knowledge Centres/Staff Colleges of Public Sector Banks or Regional Rural Banks etc.
Banking industry is passing through a very challenging time. Banks are striving hard to keep pace with the regulatory and technological changes and challenges of competition. Management of human resources is central to all strategies, as banks need to build new competencies and skills in their work force. The vacuum in middle management created by rapid retirements in the past five-six years and induction of young workforce has made the trainer’s job more demanding. In order to build a pipeline in the organization, banks need to create new competencies and capabilities in their trainers.

On 9th January, 2016 Jaipuria Institute Of Management, Lucknow concluded with the final day of MDP a program held on Leadership and Change Management for Group A Officers Of Custom and Central Excise. It was a six day program for grooming up of officials regarding Leadership potentials. The program was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Shayam ji Mehrotra, Chairperson MDP.

We are operating in an entirely different business world which is facing unprecedented stormy challenges of change. In a turbulent time, we need an entirely different breed of managers who possess different leadership competencies to steer the organization through change to a safer zone. Generally, Leaders and Managers are frequently used interchangeably. However, managerial authority refers to the delegated power by the organization, whereas leadership authority refers to the power derived from the recognition commanded amongst the followers or from the competencies to carry out the task. Manager relies on formal position of power to influence people, where as the leadership stems from social influence processes. A person may therefore be a manger, a leader or both. However, the two are by no means synonymous.
