One Day Jaipuria International Management Conference (JIMC – 2019) in Jaipuria Institute of Management Indore

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore organized a one-day International Management Conference on the theme “Envisioning Business – 2030”. The conference commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp where the dignitaries and delegates prayed to goddess Saraswati. Dr. Megha Jain, Convener of the conference, introduced the conference to the august gathering. Dr. Jain highlighted that the conference attracted researchers from India and abroad, and that more than 55 research papers were received. The other convener Dr. Kalyani Mulchandani shared that after a rigorous review process, the committee shortlisted 45 best papers to be presented in the conference.
Select Conference papers will be considered for publication in International Journal of Business and Emerging Market(ABDC C Category Journal and Scopus Indexed), International Journal of Business and Applied Science and Unnayan (UGC-Listed Journal).
The research papers were then presented by the participants under various tracks before a panel of experts who were highly experienced in their respective domains. The deliberations of the day began with Dr. Harshavardhan Halve welcoming all the dignitaries and delegates to the international conference. Dr. Halve stressed on identifying the skills that our current and future work force needs to be equipped with in the times to come as the job requirements themselves have become very dynamic. If we need to remain relevant to business, we need to work hand in glove with this changing scenario and envision what skills need to be imparted and developed within the workforce.
The proceedings were taken forward by Dr. Girish Agrawal, Associate Dean Academics and he introduced and invited the first Guest of Honor, Dr. Devi Singh – Former Vice Chancellor and Chair, Board of Management, Flame University, Pune. Dr. Singh talked about technology and shared that it is changing the way we live and think. He further explained that by 2030, the environment, clean water and air will be something that everyone will be rooting for. The needs and requirements of markets will also change constantly. The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Dr. Himanshu Rai – Director, IIM Indore, took the proceedings further by explaining dreams are becoming reality now and explained how the leadership will transform in the next decade. He clearly established that people are no more going to follow leaders rather they shall follow the process, i.e. it is not leaders but leadership that shall be looked up to. He narrated in an amusing manner the story of Karna in Mahabharata and gave an insight on the new age leadership, which deals between right and wrong instead of good and bad. The next guest of Honor, Mr. Chintak Sutaria – Salesforce Delivery Head, PwC India, enlightened everyone on unlocking the future of customer engagement via customer relationship management. The third Guest of Honor, Mr. Avadhesh Dixit – GPHR, Head – Human Resource (India Region) at Moody’s Corporation, threw light on jobs market in the realm of AI. He shared, no doubts a lot of control kinds of jobs shall be taken over by machine and explained that at any given point of time, knowledge can be gained, since it is available very easily through the Internet but what cannot be suddenly acquired is skills, decision making aptitude, and a professional behaviour and right attitude. The industry always looks for these things in individuals.
The keynote speaker of the day: Dr. Ashish Sood – Associate Professor of Marketing at University of California, Riverside, shared his insights on “Fostering synergy between academia and industry for business 2030.” The guest began by explaining the history of marketing; that how over different eras, marketing has significantly evolved. It started off with just keeping the products in mind, and then went to conception, and now has become customer-centric. This is how true researches should be, they should evolve by diving deep into aspects of contemporary phenomena and this search can evolve into classis research output.
The program was anchored by Dr. Megha Jain, Convener of the international conference, with Dr. Kalyani Mulchandani and Prof. Priyank Sinha as Co-Conveners. Towards the conclusion of inaugural ceremony, Dr. Rekha Attri, Asst. Dean Student Affairs proposed the vote of thanks.
In the second phase of conference, i.e. in the technical session 2, the conference witnessed the presence of about 50 plus researchers who came to present their work before eminent and profound researchers, who were experts and formed the review panels in their respective domains (tracks) of HR, Marketing, Finance & Economics, and General Management. Also, eight candidates competed for Best Ph.D Award. Conference witnessed participation from India, Oman and Bahrain.
The sessions were thoroughly coordinated by students of Jaipuria Indore. And two students also participated as paper presenters in two of the tracks.
The Best Ph.D. Award was conferred on Dr. Indira Sharma who completed her Ph.D. in the area of HR on the topic “A Study of the Impact of HR Strategies on the Effectiveness of Organisational Development.” The panel of experts invited for this session were Dr. Manvinder Singh Pahwa, Dr. Kanhaiya Ahuja, and Dr. Tarun Agarwal.
The award for Best Paper Presentation in the General Management was conferred to Dr. Vishakha Kutumble for her work titled, “Prominence of Pear in South Kashmir – A Case Study.” The Best Paper Presentation in HR area, was given to Mr. Pranay Karnik for “Factors Affecting Career Choice among Female MBA Students,” and in the Finance & Economics discipline, the award went to the researcher from Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Vikram Mohite for his work, “An Empirical Study on Co-Integration and Causality among Oman Stock Market and GCC Stock Markets.” For Marketing, it was conferred to Ms. Mredu Goyal for “Modelling the Relationship of Customer Engagement and Brand Trust on Social Media Purchase Intention – A Confirmatory Factor Analysis Approach.”
The conference acted as a platform for the experts from various management disciplines like Marketing, HR, and Finance, GM to have ground breaking discussions and solutions towards business excellence. The conference attracted students, researchers, academicians and corporates and policy makers from various places to share their suggestions, thoughts, and ideas for managing business excellence.
The Session Report was read by Co-Convener, Prof. Priyank Sinha, the final results were compiled and announced by Co-Convener Dr. Kalyani Mulchandani and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Megha Jain.
