Jaipuria, Jaipur recently organized a comprehensive Induction program to get its new batch of students familiarized with the campus and everything that’s in store for them over the next two years. The 12 day event held between the 30th of June and 11th of July was high on energy as the students who had just gone through a rigorous selection process had a lot to look forward to.
The renowned B School also held a 5 day Orientation program for second year students in order to prepare them for the selection process during the placement season at the end of their program.
The new PGDM batch of 120 students represented cultural and geographical diversity to the fullest, with representatives from Assam to Gujarat, and UP to Rajasthan.
Garima, student for PGDM batch 2015 – 2017 said “The first day of college was so nice for me because I got to meet a lot of students from different states. Various activities were organized for us in order to break the ice amongst our batch mates and also helped us to feel at home.”
The students of batch 2015 – 2017 were given a warm welcome to the campus during the Parent Orientation session that kicked off the Induction program. Dr. Prabhat Pankaj, Director of the institute, along with other faculty members offered students insight into the Jaipuria way of life. The formal inauguration had Dr. Deepak Malhotra, VP HR ILF&S, and Mr. Rajesh Joshi, AVP Finance, Genpact, as the Chief Guests.
The talks from these dignitaries, including Ms. Nehal Jain, Times of India Group, also motivated the students to step up to the challenges ahead of them. Over the next few days, there were several leading lights from the industry, including Ms. Kiran Preet Kaur, HR Manager, Clarks Amer Hotel, Mr. Sankalp Gupta, Genpact and Ms. Sapna Mahesh, a Freelance Journalist, who helped students understand what the industry looks for from future management professionals and what’s expected of them in their academic years with the institute.
While the new students were inspired by these sessions, they were also kept engaged through city walks and other activities that acquainted them with Jaipur, which is to be their home for the next two years. It was clearly a program for holistic learning, as Art of Living and Yoga sessions helped students explore the power of their minds.
Students also appreciated an opportunity to interact with their seniors, who were in their shoes only a year ago. Khoj, a talent hunt competition, brought out different facets of students’ personalities and showcased their many diverse talents.
Dr. Pankaj, Dr. Swati Soni, Assistant Dean, Academics, and Dr. Sheenu Jain, Program Director, inaugurated the Orientation Program for the second year students on the 6th of July. They made them aware of their responsibilities as seniors, while guiding them in regards to their future course of action. Mr. Gaurav Hajela, CEO and social media expert, talked to the students about Personal Branding, while Mr. Himanshu Vyas, Dr. Priya Sharma, Mr. Prafful Jain and Dr. Anvay Bhargava offered a session on Placement orientation.
Over the course of five days, the students had an opportunity to hear from industry experts like Mr. Vineet Sharma, Training Wizards, Dr. Archana Baj, Head – HR, KGK Infra/Jewellery, Ms. Neha Swati, Zonal HR, Mahindra Finance and several others. There were different activities, such as panel discussions and interview workshops, that prepared the students for the all-important placement season. The Orientation program also brought forth the winners of the SIP pitch activity, which on its own was an important element of preparation in their future corporate careers.
