Garima Mathur, who recently graduated from Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur has just joined Genpact as a Management Trainee and is working with the coveted Capital Market Group within Genpact. As Garima herself acknowledges, getting into this group within Genpact is really tough.
“Placement season started in Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur in November 2011. Every year, Genpact is the first company that comes for recruitment to Jaipuria Jaipur. Luckily, we had been prepared beforehand, through presentations in our college, to make us aware of the various Companies coming for recruitment. The interactions with the alumni also helped a lot.”
Garima was focusing on Genpact, as she felt it was a great starting point for a career in Finance.
“Marketing never interested me. Genpact being the first company on campus, everyone who wanted a Finance profile was trying to crack it. I was tense, yet confident; Finance, after all, is my strength.”
The Genpact recruitment process was divided into two rounds. Only those who cleared the GD round were called for a face-to-face interview.
“My interview went on for an hour. I was asked many questions relating to accounting, cases, and Genpact as an organisation.”
Since Jaipuria Institute of Management has a centralised placement system for all its campuses, quite a few of the recruitments were in Jaipuria Noida. Having cracked Genpact, Garima Mathur looked no further, and was spared all the travelling around.
“During the placement season, there were numerous exercises organised by Jaipuria Jaipur – preparing separate CVs for different companies and profiles, mock GDs and mock interviews. The faculty was rigorously involved in preparing the students, right down to giving feedback on our performance, where we lack, what we have to prepare. Sometimes prominent professionals from the corporate world were invited to our college to take mock GDs and interviews. Guest lectures from these experienced professionals really helped us know more about the real corporate world before we faced the recruitment process.”
No wonder Garima feels that, with a good placement and package, her two wonderful years at Jaipuria Jaipur ended on a high note!
