Experiencing the Placement Process at Jaipuria Institute of Management.

I took admission in the Jaipuria Institute of Management after a rigorous research of good MBA colleges in the Delhi/NCR region. This college was rated among the best in the region. When I got a call for the interview, I responded immediately and was selected for the PGDM (General) course. After the summer internship we were given a choice of streams to opt out for, such as finance, marketing, IT, operations and HR. It was a dual specialisation course so, after consulting with the faculty, I opted for finance and marketing. I was more into finance so I wanted a job in that area as well.

The placement process started earlier than I expected; around the middle of September, Copal Partners confirmed that they would come for recruitment to our college. Then Grail research also confirmed participation in the recruitment process. I applied for both the companies but I did not finally take part in the placement process of these two companies. This was not because I had changed my mind, but due to the fact that when they came, I was already placed in one the best companies anyone can start their career with – Deloitte.

Even though this was the first time I had ever given a job interview, I got placed in Deloitte with the job description being ‘tax consultant I’. This job deals withU.S.taxation and the location offered to us isHyderabad, with a salary package of Rs. 4 Lacs per annum. The placement process was divided into two different sessions, with the first being the aptitude and reasoning tests and the second, the interview rounds. The first session constituted of four different tests:

1. English language

2. Logical reasoning and Data interpretation

3. Accountancy and MS Excel

4.Versant test

The excel round was a simulation of MS Excel, whereas in the Versant test proficiency spoken English was tested. Each of these rounds was an elimination round. Through the whole process, I found the HR person, Achina Sharma, very helpful. All these rounds were held on the 12thof October. There were three rounds of interviews, which were as follows:

1. HR round

2. Technical round

3. Final round

The interviews got over by around 8:30 p.m. and the result was declared at around 9 p.m. Five of us from Jaipuria got selected.

The faculty was of great help in preparing us for the interviews. Prof. Pratibha Wasan was especially helpful, as she prepared a set of questions which might be asked and then helped us refresh the basic concepts of accountancy and finance. The placement cell of our college also prepared us well for the aptitude tests by conducting several aptitude tests and mock GDs/PIs.

The whole experience at Jaipuria Institute of Management was amazing; as there were lots of companies coming in for recruitment, and we were guided through the maze of the placement process every step of the way by the faculty and staff.
